The best way to improve any betting system is to add a progressive style when you win 3 or more hands in a row.  There are many ways to achieve this.  For example you are using the Formula Cycling Method and you win three hands in a row.  You are out of a betting cycle and are actually flat betting until you lose. 

After your third win you can start to "half press" each bet.  This means if you are betting $10 and win your next bet is now $15.  You win that bet and you half press it now betting $22 or ($25 to make it even incriments).  After that win pull your winning and start over betting just $10.

Can You Earn More

 There is a way to enhance this blackjack betting system when you make your bets out of a betting cycle.  What does that mean?  The betting cycle (or betting line) begins when you lose your first bet.  You add this to a pre-determined formula (based on the fibonacci number) the follow the betting sequence until you complete the cycle.  But when you are "out of cycle" and win this is the oportunity to win even more money by pressing (parlay) your win until you lose.

Pressing Your Bet

When you press your bet out of a betting cycle it is recommended you use a half press.  This way you can continue pressing and pressing until you lose then go right into a betting cycle.  The ideal starting wager using the "Formula Cycling Method" is a $2 bet.  So if you are out of a betting cycle and win the $2 bet your next bet (half press) will be $3.  If you win this $3 bet then your next bet (half press) will be $4 (always round up).  If you win the next bet will be $6; then $9, then $14, etc.

After Your Winning Streak

Let's say you won five bets in a row.  You started out betting $2 and on your sixth bet you were wagering $14 and lose.  Since your original bet was $2 that is the amount you now add to your betting line in the "Formula Cycling Method" and continue until your cycle is over.  Using this type of ehancement to your betting system allows you to increase your winnings and take advantage of a winning streak.

We have heard it many times again and again.  “Don’t deviate from the blackjack betting system.”  “Don’t deviate from the blackjack betting strategy.”  And my favorite, “Don’t ever split tens!”

But is there ever a time you could of, should of, would of deviated from any system or strategy in the sacred game of blackjack?  The purest amongst us will certainly be yelling at the computer screen right about now with a resounding NO!

But hold on to your favorite blackjack hat (that you haven’t washed in years because you think it brings you good luck) boys and girls!  There are definitely certain situations that will warrant an action against the norm.

And here is the secret formula to use:

          Knowledge + Common Sense = Deviation  [K+CS=D]

It’s really that simple.  And here are a couple of examples:

1.     You are sitting at a full blackjack table and there are thirty-two cards dealt out among the players and the dealer.  There is not one face card, ten or ace in the whole lot.  I refer to this as a “white out”.  You don’t have to be a rocket scientist here or even an expert card counter to know a whole bunch of good hands are going to be dealt next.  It’s time to bet the ranch regardless of what your system tells you to wager.  A wager of 5 to 10 units would not be over doing it.  In fact I would point this out to the whole table and the dealer and make a big deal about it.  This deviation is nothing more than using a specific situation and common sense.

2.     In another situation you may find yourself sitting there with a hard sixteen and the dealer has a face card.  Of course you are supposed to take a hit.  Hold the phone!  In this case you happen to know the card count is at an extremely high positive count.  You also have a large bet in front of you.  It’s time to deviate.  Stand!  Common sense tells you your hand has a 99% chance of busting if you take a hit like strategy dictates.  But this is the time to deviate.  By the way, you will most probably lose anyway when the dealer turns over another face card. J

3.     And here is one especially for the card counters who find the count a high positive.  You are sitting at third base and have two face cards against the dealer’s six.  As a card counter this would be a situation that dictates you split the face cards and reap additional profit.  Wrong!  This is the time to deviate from your normal play and stand.  The reasons are again so common sense.  You simply wave that hand let the dealer flip over the hole card to show a ten, take a hit and get another ten.  And you and the rest of the table are winners.  Here is what probably would happen if you split the face cards.  First, you just made the rest of the table groan.  Then you put the dealer, the floor person and the whole upstairs security department on notice that you are counting cards.  Congratulations!  Then after you split your first card is another ten so you split again.  You get another ten and table rules state you can’t split again so you’re on to the next hand.  Bottom line is you end up with six hands with all twenties.  Now the dealer flips over the hole card as a ten and take a hit on the sixteen and boom… gets a five hit to beat the whole table.  What else would you expect when you just sucked up four bust cards for the dealer in your greed to take advantage of a high count.

Deviations should only be made in the area of a playing action or the amount of your wager and it needs to be based on knowledge specific to that one situation.  Card counting is the premier source of additional information and knowledge during a blackjack session.

The high-low method of card counting will benefit any blackjack betting system and it is easy to learn and master.  The cards are given specific values and the total deck will end up with a cumulative total of zero.  The 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 are given a value of +1.  The 10, J, Q, K, and Ace are given a value of –1.  The 7, 8, and 9 are given a value of zero.  Count the cards two at a time when the hands are dealt out at a table and don’t let your counting interfere with your action on your hand in a timely fashion.  In other words don’t make the dealer wait while you are trying to count cards. J  Practice card counting with a single deck by exposing two cards at a time.  Your cumulative total again will be zero.  If your cumulative total is a +2 and you have two cards left in the deck to turn over they better be tens, face cards or aces.  It’s not hard folks.  The mental exercise will be good for you and it is great extra information to have while playing any system.

Why do so many players end up losing at blackjack?  The reason is really a whole lot simpler than you think.  Simply put we are programmed to lose.  Yes, that’s right.  If you were talking to someone about blackjack and he told you he always won, your first knee jerk reaction is he’s a liar.

How many articles have you read that somewhere in the scope of the academic thesis of what the author is trying to get across it is always pointed out that you will have bad days, bad streaks, and you can’t win all the time.  Or you are discussing the game with a friend and he says, “I only bring X amount of dollars with me because that is all I want to lose.”  And then my all time favorite is, “Don’t play with money you can’t afford to lose”.

And it doesn’t stop there.  Even the casinos get into the act in their advertisements.  And it’s really very clever when you think about it.  Their ads seem very respectable and community orientated by always warning you not to play over your head.  But make no mistake.  They are programming and training you to lose.  They are in the business of winning and you losing.

Now don’t get me wrong.  Don’t throw out the baby with the bath water so to speak.  You need to keep level headed and always use common sense when it comes to money management but that is a different issue.

So let’s train ourselves to win instead of programming ourselves to lose.  And the first step is simply to be aware of all that negativity out there constantly bombarding your psyche.  Be very aware and remind yourself that is not you.  You don’t have to lose all of the time, most of the time, and more accurately you don’t have to lose anytime.

The second step is to plan a winning day.  If you walk away from the casino with $1 more than you came in with you are a winner!  Easy right?  Wrong!  To walk away winning only a dollar is more demoralizing than leaving a $500 loser.  Why?  Because it just isn’t something you are going to go out and brag about.  “Hey, I just won a big $1 profit from the casino!”  Doesn’t sound so good does it.  And you won’t draw a very big crowd around you wanting to know how you managed to do that.

And that brings me to the third step.  Don’t discuss your winnings with anyone.  That knowledge has to become a trade secret.  Don’t even discuss it in a chat session on the Internet.  It is very important to keep your ego out of your blackjack life.  The big reason is 99% of the people you come in contact with about blackjack believe you will lose.

So now we have established three simple things in the process of training ourselves to win at blackjack.

1.     Become aware of all the negativity surrounding the game.

2.     Plan a winning session even if it is only for $1.

3.     Do not discuss your blackjack business with anyone.

Let’s concentrate on step 2.  Winning $1 for a whole day’s work sounds so insignificant to the point of embarrassment.  But I am here to tell you if you are consistently losing then winning $1 is a big deal.  And you have to learn to really think of it as a big deal and a great accomplishment.

Look at it this way.  You lose three playing sessions in a row over the period of one week that totals a loss of $699 and then on the fourth session you win $1.  You just didn’t win one dollar.  You just had a swing from negative $699 to a positive $1.  That is a total swing of $700!  Now that is something to cheer about when you look at it in that light.

Being able to walk away from the casino winning only $1 and feeling good about it is probably the greatest achievement you will ever make in training yourself to win at blackjack.  Yes, I am dead serious!

So the first thing you do is the next time you play blackjack is to leave a winner.  I don’t care how much it is or how soon it comes after you start playing.  The minute you are up; stop and leave.  I don’t care if it is right after the first hand.  You have to start learning how to leave the casino a winner and feel good about it.

Now you just got over that big hump in road on your winning journey yesterday by walking away after you won your very first hand at a $5 blackjack table.  You congratulated yourself and didn’t tell a soul.  You did it!  You broke that losing cycle.  Now you can start planning your next win.  So today you put down on paper your goal to walk away after you win a total of $15.  Yes, I know that is three times as much as you won the first day but you can do it.  This is very important.  Really!  If you can win and walk away with the amount you planned then you deserve to sit back and smile and relish the winning feeling.

It’s the third day now.  You have been a consistent winner for a total of more than 24 hours.  The goal you set today is to walk away a winner for a grand total of $35.  Sounds too simplistic?  Do the math.  If you can play for 30 days straight and win thirty-five dollars each time you just became a $1015 dollar winner for the month!  Now that is something to write home about (but don’t forget about step three ö).

And if by chance you should fall back into your losing ways just pick yourself up and start over at the very beginning.  You can do it.

I am very fortunate to have a friend who developed a winning betting system that he guarantees to work.  It is the Formula Cycling Method.  And yes I use it and yes it does work.  This system comes in handy especially for those who need a little help in figuring out how to win on a consistent basis.  It is a method he developed during his fifty years of winning at the game of blackjack.

Nine out of ten times if you ask an experienced blackjack player what is the best blackjack system out there, they will undoubtedly say it is the card counting system.  If you continue and ask them if they win with card counting systems all the time, they will tell you "No; of course not.  No one can win with any system all the time.  Then if you ask them what is the biggest draw back of the card counting systems most probably they would respond with, "Retaliation from the casino if you're caught!"

That is probably the biggest turn off of them all that discourages players to use a card counting system.  Yes, on one hand it can have a romantic flare but to be branded a card counter by the casino industry is definitely a final nail in your coffin. 

There are plenty of drawbacks to being a card counter.  First, and not very often talked about, is when you have the count advantage so does the dealer. Duh!  And if you are sitting in the third base position at the table (to the dealer’s immediate right) both your cards and the dealer cards are more often to receive the same benefit of a positive or negative count.

Second is the psychology of the game that will affect your play.  When the count is ripe and you just bet the ranch your ego is not going to handle it very well when that idiot to your right just took a hit when he had a sixteen and the dealer was showing a five only to get a face card and bust instead of the dealer busting.  And we have all been there; then the dealer makes a hand to beat the entire table.  Yup, your ego just went on tilt.

Most players just aren’t cut out for all the work and hassle card counting can bring.  But what other choice do they have?

And if you ask any of these experienced professionals if they ever played systems like the Martingale, Labouchere or other cancellation systems they will tell you, "You can't win with those systems because you will eventually go bust".

Until now their viewpoint would have been correct. But with the release of Blackjack to the Nth Degree – Formula Cycling Method, they are dead wrong!

This was almost kept a secret. Blackjack rules are easy to learn and can be accomplished usually in one day.

After you understand the house rules (and they do change from casino to casino) there are basically only three (3) components to playing blackjack; your wager, your cards, and your action. That's it! But what comes before that play and what you do next is what all the fuss is really about. The HOUSE (casino) will always have the edge. The player will NEVER have the edge. Having the edge means the casino will win more hands than they lose over a long period of time. Don't get wrapped up in all the technicalities. Just understand that over the long hall you can expect to lose more hands than you win.

So the only way to tip the scales in your favor is to change your betting amounts so you will WIN more Dollars than you lose.

Playing at casinos with rules that best favor the player is important. Casinos are constantly trying to introduce new tables with altered rules. People who don't understand what that means are the usual prey the casinos are looking for.

   So on many occasions I found myself standing on a pair of eights; not doubling down on ace/six; and even standing when the dealer had a two or three for an up card when I had a hand with a hard twelve (F/2, 9/3, 8/4, 7/5).  It took me a few years to learn that this type of zigging and sagging was just tearing my wallet up into pieces. 

   There was a time I would use the positive or negative count (especially with a single deck) to influence my action.  I thought I was real clever.     If the count was real high (indicating the next card would probably be a face card) I would stand when I had a hard 15 or 16 and the dealer's up card was face card (10,J,Q, or K) when I should have taken a hit.  But I thought I was smart and the odds of me busting were so great the risk of staying was better than that outcome.  Needless to say that over time, this type of zigging and zagging took its losing toll.

   But then I embraced one of the key elements to a winning playing strategy… CONSISTENCY!  I began to keep records of my play (back in the early days having a pen and small tablet was allowed at the tables) and it became clear that my play improved when I followed a strict set of rules.  Over time I developed a betting system (which is the main topic of my new book, "Blackjack to the Nth Degree") that combined with the basic strategy overcame the casino's edge and put me on a winning track for good.

   One of the toughest thing to overcome when one becomes that strict is "boredom".  It takes a lot of discipline to overcome boredom.  That one word can cost even a very good player a lot of money if it can't be controlled and accepted.
